Games with Gold second “free” game for Xbox 360 available for download on July 1st: Defense Grid: The Awakening

At Microsoft’s E3 press conference it was announced that Xbox Live Gold members would be getting free games on the 1st and 16th of every month. Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed II were shown, and had lead many to believe (including myself) that they would be the first games when the program went live in July. Instead, we get Defense Grid: The Awakening, an XBLA game that is four years old and five DLCs…

After E3, you’d think they would be trying to save face and do right by the customer, instead of giving you a four year old $10 game for free, clearly meant to get you to buy DLC. How is this supposed to be competition to PSN+? They get new full titles free monthly, and typically more than just one measly title. I’d rather have had Major Nelson just spit in my face.
