Multiple sources are reporting that Namco Bandai Games has registered three new trademarks in Japan – Tales of Zestoria, Tales of Creales, and Tales of Catastora – one of which is likely to be chosen as the title of a presumably-forthcoming entry in the Tales series. Namco Bandai has employed a similar process for previous Tales titles, trademarking multiple titles and ultimately settling on one of the trademarked names or a very similar one.
Speculators on NeoGAF‘s and GameFAQs‘ forums point out that the series’ producer, Hideo Baba, has indicated that there are no plans in the works for any next-gen titles; it seems likely, then, that the to-be-named installment will be a PS3 exclusive. Already announced and awaiting release is Tales of Symphonia Chronicles for PS3, a high-def remaster of the PS2 title Tales of Symphonia and its sequel, Dawn of the New World. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is slated for release in Japan this coming October, and early next year in North America.
