Among the Sleep is an in-production first-person horror/survival game played from the perspective of a two-year-old and his teddy bear sidekick.
Krillbite Studio announced today in a backers-only Kickstarter blog update that the game is poised for an “early spring 2014″ release. The game ended its Kickstarter campaign in May with $248,358, passing its $200,000 goal. In the months since, the team has been “focusing intensively on the chapters that [need the] most work” and started combining “all [the] chapters into into one continuous experience.”
“The most important thing for us is to make the game as good as possible,” the post reads. “Going forward this involves streamlining the game overall, adding detail, implementing voiceovers, localization, optimising the Oculus Rift implementation, improving menu & GUI, and lots’n lots of testing and bug fixing. In addition we still have to nail the launch details with distributors like Steam and GOG.
With that in mind, it looks as though Among the Sleep will be released [in] early spring 2014!”
In Among the Sleep, players enter the mind and body of a two-year-old child. The studio hopes this will allow for players to “immerse themselves in a child’s limitless imagination.” By playing “in the borderland between dream and reality, surreal creatures and diverse environments will present you with both physical and mental obstacles that challenge your creativity.”
The game will be released on PC, OS X, and Linux.
